Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Surgery
A clicking joint can be normal but if there is locking, or pain or restriction of your ability to open your mouth then something may be wrong.
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) surgery is a sub specialty within Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and requires specialist fellowship training. Dr Burgess completed his training and then pursued fellowship training in Melbourne under world recognized TMJ surgeon Dr George Dimitroulis.
TMJ surgery can be minimally invasive – arthroscopy (small camera to look inside the joint), through to total joint replacement. Other procedures to help stabilize the joint can be provided and this can be an option provided by Dr Burgess.
