Dr Michael Burgess is a highly qualified oral and maxillofacial surgeon based in Brisbane, specialising in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and orthognathic surgery.
Education
Dr Burgess holds dental and medical degrees from the University of Sydney and University of Newcastle respectively. He completed fellowship training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Brisbane, followed by an advanced fellowship in TMJ surgery. He also holds an MBA from the University of Sydney.

Dr Burgess performs the complete range of TMJ and orthognathic procedures, including:
- TMJ arthroscopy and open TMJ surgery
- Total TMJ replacement surgery
- Orthognathic surgery
- Combined TMJ and orthognathic procedures

Academic Contributions
Dr Burgess has published research in TMJ replacement surgery and dental implant surgery. He has presented internationally at ICOMS 2025 and chaired the organising committee for the ANZAOMS Annual Scientific Meeting in Cairns in 2024.
